A quick footnote to my last post.
MyStarbucksIdea.com, the site where people can submit ideas for Starbucks' products and services, as well as comment and vote on other people's ideas, was a winner at this year's Forrester Groundswell awards.
The awards recognise ‘excellent and effective use of social technologies to advance an organizational or corporate goal'.
From Starbucks' application:
"We've had nearly 75,000 ideas submitted in less than six months, with many ideas receiving thousands of votes and hundreds of comments. Some ideas have been surprising to us ... More often, however, it has helped us prioritize our current efforts and initiatives ... in just a few short months My Starbucks Idea has become a major force in helping direct the future of the company."
If you're looking for more examples of how social media can benefit business, the other winners were Mattel, Common Wealth Credit Union, Hershey's, National Instruments, Accenture, Brooklyn Museum and Intuit.
Here's more about the winners and you can also read all 150 entry applications on the Groundswell site.
